Japanese Washi paper wall decoration: 越柊, pronounced “koshu”, is a large sheet of paper made from “hand-made” Echizen Washi paper that has been coated to make it durable and fire-resistant, making it suitable for creating Japanese-style spaces and decorations.

Koshu (越柊) is made from Echizen washi paper, a tradition that dates back over 1,500 years.
Handmade washi paper is a material that can express the traditional beauty of Japan.
Echizen washi, the oldest paper, is handmade by craftsmen one piece at a time.
The oldest banknotes, which have become the basis for the current Japanese yen banknotes, are also made from Echizen washi paper.
Koshihiragi, which uses genuine handmade washi paper, expands the scope of contemporary architectural design and the possibilities of traditional Japanese crafts.

Performance: The coating gives handmade washi paper the durability and fire resistance required by modern architecture.
Design: The design reflects the traditional beauty of Japan without affecting the texture of handmade washi paper even after coating.
Koshu is coated with washi paper to make it fireproof. It has passed the fire resistance test specified in the Building Standards Act and has been certified as a fireproof material in Japan.
(Non-combustible certification number NM-4959)
It can also be used in areas with limited interior design.
Added waterproof properties: Unlike uncoated washi paper, coated washi paper has a water-repellent property, which makes it excellent at repelling dirt and stains caused by moisture.
Improved friction strength. Rubbing test conditions.
・ Cotton material (Canakin cloth No. 3) is used as the rubbing material.
・ Withstands a load of 500 g/1 cm2.
・ 1 round (5 cm x 2)/second.
The texture is more beautiful. Even with coating, the texture of the washi paper does not affect it much. In addition, the contrast between the white and transparent areas, which are unique to Japanese paper, is more pronounced, making each pattern stand out even more.

- Installation: Installation is done using double-sided tape and the same gluing method as general fireproof decorative panels, so even non-professional craftsmen can install it.
